First frost this morning.

White shed roofs, frosted rear window on the car.
Sun burnt it off double quick though.

Not at work today due to morning into early afternoon appointment, so managed to glean the afternoon to gardening.

Cleared the greenhouse of onions and squash :D , cleaned the glass :evil: well all that I could reach. Filled the empty space in the garage with squash, onions and potatoes. :D

Anyone else get a cold snap?

Yes, had to clear the ice off the car as I set off at 6.45 this morning. :(

Thankfully I harvested anything and everything I'd hate to lose in a frost, like the last of the chervil, french tarragon, florence fennel, tomatoes and peppers etc., and 'as forecast' it was a severe frost. Trousers had to scrape his car at 6am, and me much later, as the sun still doesn't get high enough over the woodlands adjacent to thaw the garden at this time of year.
And your posting here Peter reminded me of something that Elderly Next Door says EVERY year when there's frost or snow on the garden, and it makes me laugh EVERY time (!) "You see? My garden looks as good as yours does now!" A bit like when it's chucked it down for days on end, and he asks me if I've got a bucket of water he can borrow....

Hi Peter,
A very mild frost Tues/Wed but Wed/Thurs a real sharp one -8C. Rushed out and picked the final of the Runner Beans which have been lingering on for weeks in nice small pickings. Will be harvesting the Autumn King 2 Carrots from my experiment when it is just a tad warmer.

Isn't it great to get proper cold weather, though. All the poor plants and trees need a rest or they won't be fit for anything next year. The convolvulus cneorum is in full bloom.
I do hope the cold freezes all the slugs to death. :twisted:

Anthony, I read your contribution this morning before I went to work.
This evening I dipped into the thread again because I saw Alison's name, and discovered that her contribution is now BEFORE yours', and it's not even 8-something in the evening yet.
Perhaps you discovered something amiss before me, because I hadn't got a clue what you were on about earlier, but now I think I'm 'with you' on this one !

It seems our server has had a wierd blip on its time - so some posts made during the last day or so had been marked at 4th November - which is tomorrow - and some posts just have odd times on them.

As the threads are date sorted - those posted with furures dates are always last.

Anything odd over the weekend please PM me directly - or even better email: jason@kitchengarden.co.uk - so I get the mail right away and can have a look!

OK I've found out that this problem was due to a glitch in CPANEL - the software managing this (and other peoples) servers.

It briefly threw server time 13 hours ahead before it corrected itself.

Some people might find they cannot post and a message of :
"You cannot make another post so soon after your last; please try again in a short while."

If you get this message - your account is locked out until the time shown on the Who's online section (bottom of main forum. click Who's online) - at most now another 6-12 hours max.

This is also why the board is reporting so many people online - as their last online dates are ahead of us.

Because the glitch is fixed, all those future posts and logins will eventually expire and the board will return to normal.

POSTS
Some posts made during the glitch will have future times on them and as threads are date-sorted, they'll appear below any post you make until their posting date goes into the past, so please watch for this ;)


Some people have closed their forums because of this, but I'll keep it open as to most, everything seems ok.
