The last thing I want to do is start another war of words, just musing, but is any sort of foliar feeding permissible under Organic rules. I have found seaweed preperations surprisingly effective in the past (Chase Sea Magic) but is that allowed now? I use Miracle Gro or the Chempak solubles but presumably these would not be allowed Organically.

I dont know anything about gardening, but Bob Flowerdew, raves about liquid seaweed, and he knows, a lot about organic gardening.

I too found seaweed good for a quick fix.
The question in my case was academical, just woundering how well the true Organic people cope with the situation when the liquid feed is all that the plants get at any time as in a hydroponic situation, or perhaps the situation never occurs.
Let's forget it.

can we clarify terminoligy, are we refering to foliar feeding as spraying the plant's foliage with a nutrient solution to correct a nutrient deficiency in the soil . Allans last post refers to hydroponic growing which is a different ball game as i understand it the plants then are either grown in a tank and the roots washed with nutrient solution or they are grown on small blocks of fibreglass insulation with drip irrigarion of nutrient solution onto the fibreglass. i dont think ive ever heard of organic hydroponic growing, perhaps i should float a couple of tomatoe plants on the surface of my barrel of nettle and manure water and see what happens?
