Bit the bullet this afternoon and cleared out my greenhouse. The few tomatoes that were still going were being targeted by a million fruit flies, so bad I was probably inhaling thousands just venturing in there!

So, dismantled all the growbags and pots, soil all went into my new 600ltr supersized compost bin. Cleaned down the walls and staging; it all looks suddenly very empty, just my peppers still going well on the staging, some lettuce and overwintering onions in modules, some strawberry runners I'm waiting to make a new bed with at the allotment. It all seems very final......

Ugh, don't remind me. I have one greenhouse with just the tomatoes planted in it which will be so easy to clean out, but the OTHER one    I know I must do it properly this year but the stuff in there under the benches is mind boggling. It's as empty of plants now as it ever is so this weekend would be a good time, but every time I go in there I loose my resolve. :?

Dear Deb P, I should think a good way of cheering yourself up, would be to get your seed catalogues out and start planning for next year. :D
As for you my dear Chantal, with your celebrity status i'm surprised you don't get a lesser mortal to do the tedious tasks. :D

Kind regards Old Herbaceous.

I am the lesser mortal. Round here if it needs doing, then I do it myself; apart from my cleaner and my neighbour who looks after my chickens   oh, and the windowcleaner.

Ahh, seed catalogues....aka 'vegetable porn!"

I received the 'Plants of distinction' one yesterday, who I bought a lot from last year because I had some gift tokens; (thus ending up with too many tomato varieties!)Don't think I will be buying much from them this year (though they have got some lemongrass seed), partly because I've still got some seed left over from this year, and also due to competition from 'Real seeds'et al!

I'm trying really hard to plan properly for the allotment and the garden, but kid in a sweetie shop has nothing on me.....!!! :D
