I've been to a steam rally at Old Warden in Bedfordshire today, and had a very pleasant time.
They are a strange old lot them steam folk, but they are freidly i must admit, always got time for a chat. The old boys that always make me smile, are the ones that have stationary engines, they just seem to sit there all day watching them chugging away, a bit boring to me but every one to there own. :D
Anyone else had a riveting time today. :?:

Kind regards Old Herbaceous.

Shovelling manure over the first newly dug bit of the plot. Bloomin' marvelous day. :D

Today I have been mostly digging up & dividing plants in a big raised border I've got at the front of the house. Visited the local garden centre and they had a 1/2 price plant sale - waaaheeeyy :D Got some bargains to fill a few gaps and the border is looking pretty darned good (if I say so myself).

Totally cream crackered now but have mad giddy plans for relocating my various herbs to 1 of the raised veg beds tomorrow.

I hate to admit it OH, but my old fella is always transfixed by those stationary engines at steam rallys and has muttered about getting 1 before now

No I think you were right 1st time Herbie - can't see what is so riveting myself  I have accused other half of extreme sad tendencies and point blank refused to sit along side him should he buy one and then join the ranks of the stationary engine display at steam rallys.

I blame the late great Fred Dibner. He was glued to all his programs and keeps saying he needs to get a flat cap - eeeekkkk

Dear Jopsy you do have a busy old life, don't know how you cope.
Not to many Whippet jokes please, i'm still a little upset from losing Cass.

Thanks for the thought Jopsy. Oh dear - just remembered he has also talked about getting a Jack Russell

He is actually a good laugh, but does get a little hooked on anything to do with traditional machinery and crafts. He's booked himself onto a days course hedgelaying and a weekend of dry stone walling this autumn. Pretty sure he's getting the flat cap though just cos of my reaction when he told me - he's a bit of a devil on the QT
