Common asparagus beetle

Since my last posting on this subject I have learnt that the vital ingredient of a pesticide to knock out the common asparagus beetle is CYPERMETHRIN. Looking on the Net I have found a supplier of the pesticide but in America! I have not learnt of any pestcide that can be bought at a garden centre etc. but a commercial product for large scale use is TOPPEL 10 which kills many different pests. However this product like all pesticides as you will know well needs to be handled with great care - that is if you can get any!!
Costs no more to keep a pedigree than a mongrel!
Hi Peejo,
Cypermetherin is available for commercial outlets and if you have a Horticultural Supplies Shop in your area you can at least enquire. I suspect you would have to hold a FEPA certificate before you could buy it and even then it would be in a quantitiy probably in excess of your requirements.

I find asparagus beetle can be successfully managed without resort to pesticides. I've grown a bed of about 20 crowns for 6 years now and have lovely asparagus every year.
