Hi Johnboy,

I know I'm getting old and the memory is not that sharp, and Yes there are an awful lot of urban myths out there, so I did put a disclaimer on my previous posting. I have been able to search the internet (I know, not always reliable) and have come up with the following:

http://www.soilassociation.org/web/sa/saweb.nsf/0/80256cad0046ee0c80256d1f005b0ce5?OpenDocument

Apparently GM tomatoes with a long shelf life which could withstand transportation were developed and marketed in the USA in the early 1990's. It was not very successful (bland) and was withdrawn. It did get a license to allow importation into the UK, but was never imported.

So this is probably were I got my info from.

Sorry if I misled anybody.
I don't suffer from insanity .... I enjoy it!

Vivianne
