Not too bad a day to-day, sunny with some showers and very windy. Managed to sow some leeks and onion seeds in the glass house, just hope it soon warms up and dries up.

We saw some sunshine again today and a very sharp shower around lunchtime.

I too was sowing a few seeds and then placed them into the propagator. The night temperatures are showing rather low this week now ..I'm sure they look lower than I noticed at a glance at the weather a couple of days ago.?

At least, given some sun, the greenhouse feels a bit more growing like...and this morning was noticeably lighter when I got to the work gates..and I was a few minutes earlier than sometimes too. There was still a few lumps of snow around at that early hour from yesterday lunch times white over covering..

Yes Clive, that is something I keep meaning to buy, a heated propagator. I do have a double paraffin heater but seldom use it nowadays.

Dry all day to-day and I managed to sow some broad beans in the soil and some backups in the greenhouse. Also started to prune some apple trees or should I say tried my best to clip some branches here and there!

Daffodils, primroses and snowdrops are looking good in the garden, they always cheer me up. Looking forward to seeing the blackthorn coming into flower, then I will know that spring is in the air.

It was a brilliant mild, sunny day with most of the puddles drying nicely. I got totally in the zone not dodging puddles & being able to weed & tidy. I got the whole of the plots behind the back of the tunnel weeded & fed, & forked over the 2 still flooded beds to help drainage, but more work needed for them. Took the last of the netting off most of the winter crops & put them away, obvs PSB remains protected. Only the flower beds in front of the tunnel to weed & sort & officially I will be ready to start the fun stuff. Fortunately I had already prepped & covered most of lottie 2.

Plan is to sort the tunnel next though as I've been throwing stuff in there rather than walking the extra few metres & getting soaked. Won't take too long to sort though & the wee plants I've sown in the propagator have woken up again so back on schedule for them to be ready in a couple of months. Mind might be a bit slower as the rain is back for a few weeks by the weather report! Loads of salad crops grew through winter though so the food bank will get a nice range of salads!

Where are you all hiding? I hope your absence is reflecting it has stopped raining in your area & you are getting on with your chores.

The weather report is showing a couple of days without any serious rain then some sunshine, so looks like I'll be able to get down bit more often for a while. We shall see when these highlighted days move closer! ;)

Hi Westi, I've been helping my brother finish moving house this week, and we've both been ill, typical!

I did manage to get my chilli, aubergine & bell pepper seeds into the heated propagator a couple of weeks ago, fingers crossed!

Nothing else has happened outside, as it hasn't really stopped raining, only for the main moving day last Saturday. I need to cut back all the perennials soon, as they are beginning to sprout.

Still just loads of rain here, and the ground is just unworkable….very frustrating!

Rained all day here with the weather saying continuing all week but suddenly rain just stopped this afternoon & it was even sunny for a bit. They have updated the weather finally & it is now looking OK for tomorrow, bit of drizzle but way milder temp.
I will play it by ear but would like to get the winter stuff out of the tunnel & start sowing some of the hardier seeds on the staging, as temp in there is OK & holding for a week or more. I have had all the compost delivered to site by my neighbour so got enough jobs to be cracking on with along with the sows.

6mm rain was in the gauge this morning...and some sunshine during the middle of the day. The big greenhouse was at 14C when I went to close up this afternoon with compost of plants potted yesterday feeling warm to the back of the hand..so hopefully I've hit that job just right for forward growth.
Dahlia seeds that went in last weekend are up in the propagator.

...and then, fully as billed, rain commenced again at 5pm....

It's useful to see some better temperatures showing in the forecast and indeed some more days with given sunny symbols and currently no rain showing as far as Met lists for the week..after the heavy dose that's falling at the moment..

Cheapy pizza and pickled onions for tea...whilst lunch did have some back garden elements...Broad beans from the freezer and Invicta gooseberries from freezer for pud.

Nice morning on the plot, not sunny but not raining & quite warm, the drizzle only showed when heading for home. I stayed in the tunnel mostly clearing beds in there & still have some crops to clear but they aren't quite ready yet so left them. Just some lettuce, broad beans & PSB to go though. Got all the other areas fed & dug & took one of the stagings outside for some pots as think the plants are tough enough to cope now, popped them on the middle shelf though just so some protection.

Had time before leaving to start harvesting the very last of the leeks outside but didn't get finished as distracted by bad weeds that had snuck in & thought might as well do it, two birds one stone kinda ethos & only about a dozen to go! Now tunnel looks under control, & front beds being clear hides a few others behind, then next step is spuds in which will be easier as going into these beds that have been prepped. The toms, peppers etc are looking perky in the propagator after their sulk but I'm limiting their artificial light now as sun has moved so they are getting natural light.

...and now tonight it's self inflicted hair cut time....hoping the weather forecast is correct in its milder outlook ;)
A rather delayed trim whilst I shook off the 'orrible 'cold'.

Sunshine today...and dry paths.. More sunshine listed for tomorrow but there's now rain added for overnight into Tuesday...did it sneak into the forecast or did I miss seeing it in my excitement.??

17C in the big greenhouse at window closing time. Thermometers mounted in the shade on staging bench legs.

...and noted some Queen Bumblebees out and about this afternoon..

Quite impressed with the forecast, 3 days of milder weather & no rain! Perfect timing to get cracking on the rest of the jobs on the list! Mainly some sows as the propagator crops are looking perky & getting quite big so may have to move them to the tunnel to acclimatise as no way I can leave the lid off the propagator with the feline helpers in the mix & tunnel temp is OK. Will have the fleece at the ready though just in case!
