I have read somewhere that parsnips seedlings won't transplanting. So why are they sold in garden centres etc?
PS I bought some so I'm gonna try.

I've often moved a few when the row has germinated unevenly and they do grow. Even with F1s what you dig seems quite variable, are the dumpy ones the ones that have been transplanted I wonder? If you have a full row of transplants the results will be interesting.

I had heard the same thing but just thought I'd try anyway as mine were too close to each other so no loss if failed. I transplanted them successfully but they were quite small & just in case I dug them with some soil attached & planted them back into hole about the same size, just giving the bottom of the hole a bit of a loosen up as they were moved into a spot that hadn't been specifically prepped for them with a proper dig.
