A special day....found my first asparagus showing! Only diddy still & fortunately for their colour difference they caught my attention while hoeing the edges. It truly must be spring!

There's a few broad beans just popping through in the other garden, so put a few more in today, two days later than last year, as I happened to find the label to re use.
We had a dose of unadvertised light rain yesterday afternoon...it was maybe welcome in terms of giving a few things a freshening....but stopped 'play' a few times during the afternoon. This morning was on the foggy misty side lifting to just grey and quite cool, took a good while 'til we saw the sun.

..and today...cool start again, car thermometer pinged to say 4 C when out and about early....but has turned into a gorgeous sunny Spring day 
Took a little ride out to the aviation heritage centre at East Kirkby...to check on progress. I got to view the work on their B25 a little closer too..
..and back home decided to quickly put in the Farmer Gracy sourced new dahlias...all was worked down earlier and ready to go. They were starting to show a shoot or two where they were sat in the back room, so better under the soil...planted near the back door lined up next to the new crown imperials.
Washing machine has been rumbling round too,
Ought to head to the front garden now, much needs a doing....but found myself elsewhere adding a comment about a lawnmower ident..from a posted up photo.
Out across the fields there is some grunting of Challenger crawler tractors...whilst the actual back field is yellowing from a dose of treatment...so the tractoring will soon be a little closer

Home day as builders due back & they did come, but the timbers ordered did not. All sorted in the end as their Lady boss got on to them & the nipper at the sellers who was loading missed them. All sorted & the builders even stayed on later to catch up. So we have the roof batons on & the gap ready for the sky light. Tomorrow they will do the roof completion & put in the sliding doors.
Then just the inside to clad out, get the electric in & the disabled facilities fitted so won't be long until Mr has his man cave & I will have a wee produce fridge/freezer in there so room in the kitchen fridge & I plan to wash the veg in there as well; this might be compromised with all his art brushes in sink though!

Thought I share a pic of the build as been talking about it for a while. Another hiccup today with the number of timbers etc. delivered not matching the orders but think the boss lady might have been involved in sorting that this time as they came in their hardware truck & the guys could carry on. Roof mostly done, just about 3 more large sheets to secure, then slip the sky light in & apply the waterproof heated stuff to totally seal. The boss lady is trying to cover them on Monday so they can finish. Looks way more real now, but way bigger than expected thanks to the new insulation rules & regs.

1: Little door will open straight out onto the concrete drive so Mr can get his little scooter in & out. 2: The side double door will be access to the back sitting area & inside I'm thinking a pergola to the fence line with climbers for privacy & shade.

You have been busy Clive….i’ve been and done a few bits over the allotments this morning and managed to get the front borders sorted yesterday, so feel a lot happier now!

Got 1/2 my Kelsae onions in today & got lucky as received 2 packs & only ordered 1! Mind 2nd packet ones are smaller but quite perky, but kinda wondering if they are just getting rid of any extra's so can get room for the next crop.
Now I want your advice seeing I have these guys & also have some French garlic cloves in that are also supposed to get big. I don't bother too much with the alliums just sort & cover their bed in advance with a granular seaweed feed thrown on for luck. I looked online & got myself confused as I have never got my head around 'nitrogen rich' & the like, so would like to know what 'named' feed you would recommend, if any to support these? I found they like a weekly water & full sun - is this correct? These aren't full sun but over 1/2 do get the sun all day & the rest get some sun as it moves over the neighbours chicken sheds.

I did mine last night...a few needed new batteries and have now fell off the to do list.
I have three that auto adjust but one of those only changes the next day for some reason..just to add to the confusion.
...and then there's the big one to climb up and do this morning. I stopped it yesterday so it didn't ring out the wrong time through the early hours..

Not surprised you are confused about onion feeding Westi. You say you aren't keen on looking at N:P:K analysis but I just looked up three different brands of onion fertiliser and they are 5:19:10, 12:11:18 and 6:5:7 so suppliers don't even agree. Quick search has failed to find anybody declaring the analysis of seaweed fertiliser, you'll have to look on your bag. Fish, Blood and Bone is 3:5:6 and I'd use that for simplicity. If your soil tends to be acidic they also like a bit of lime.

I’ve started using FBB more and more often, just lately….it seems to give more consistent results, than some other products!

I planted a row of Charlotte potatoes in September and never got around to digging them……well just dug them and they are superb, no slug damage and still scrape really easily….very pleased……Milton Royal’s! lol

Nice run of sunny weather coming up by the look of things, but will be weird going down to the plot when not quite so bright. Spent ages changing over the projector clock in the bedroom, just as it did when I got the thing. The booklet is with it but kinda in mixed languages, like they stabled the instruction book pages in the wrong place. Anyway I won in the end!
Not much on the agenda tomorrow; just got to uncover the last beds & put all the black plastic away & give these beds some barrows of my compost so they will be ready for when the greedy guys are bigger. The brassica plants are looking perky in their new bigger pots & already growing away & I won't need to pot on again. Time to get all the environmesh out when I put the plastic away. Also plan to put the 2nd earlies in their bed as well, but that's all prepped. Will see how it goes which is totally dependant on who wants to chat; I'm quite antisocial this time of the year as the do list tends to be long but technically I have plenty of time as soil temp is fine now so I can direct sow some things.
