I guess you guys are all growing your own but we're not...
Despite it being a relatively upmarket area the only shop within walking distance is Lidl. Whilst we're not doing our weekly shop with them we are getting quite a lot of stuff from there. Their bread is pretty good anyway.
About the free fruit, apparently if you buy certain items - and I don't think they publicise what exactly these items are (but I often don't understand what husband is on about) - you can enter into a prize draw/raffle kind of thing (free). The products he's bought aren't anything fancy, bread, cheese, basic veg. He's now got several vouchers for mango, grapes, and I can't remember what all else. Loads of free fruit in other words.
If you don't have to go out of your way to get there, it might be worth diving in and buying a few basics that you'd be buying anyway and see if you score a freebie. Sorry, no idea if this is just Scotland or if it's nationwide.
Free fruit

I agree Lidl's bread is good & pretty fond of the Brownies. Our local doesn't do this free, you just get discounts on certain items & sometimes a chance to get it free if you swipe your phone. Personally I can't be stuffed mucking around & dragging the phone out as they seem to have overloaded their app with spin wins & stuff like that. Give me the loyalty card, one swipe & done & instant discount if a product you bought is in a deal.
I actually wrote to them to say they are excluding the elderly who are not phone savvy but could potentially benefit from the odd discount. This came from being in a longish queue with these older folk fumbling around in their bag for a start, then forgetting their pin etc. They did reply to say they were considering a card. Hmm?? I won't hold my breath!

Well I'm a deaf old git so I can't be backsided with the phone anyway.
I used to run a big websiteabout 25 years ago - before most people had even heard of the Internet. And now I can't be bothered. I often get treated as though I'm clueless. I'm not clueless, I just can't be bothered with it. They're all face on screen can't drag me away.
