Wellie - The flower pot man on your postings is brilliant. The best I have seen. Did you make him yourself ? I have seen a great flower pot dog. Does anyone have any ideas for fun flower pot projects as we must all have loads of empty pots lying around ready to use.
Hi Happymouse,
Come on now Wellies flowerpot character is a Woman no respecable man would wear those 'Wellies' which BTW made an appearance at The Malvern Spring Show!!
The knee you see in the photo is just to prove that the FPW is not Wellie herself!!!!!

JB.
It all started with a local gardening competition when I lived back in Buckinghamshire, and my Dad was just very close to death with throat cancer, and I decided to enter the competition, and he was ever so proud of my gardening. I put so much into the competition because I didn't know what else to do.
In the various categories entered I won a first, a second and a highly commended. And so "Flowerpot" was born.
Until now, Trousers and I had always thought it seemed to suit pink better than blue, and so I think we'll give her a proper christening this weekend, and declare her a Sheila... but call her WELLIE.
I have plans to make her a bloke one day.
And IF SHE'S GOOD, well, who knows, a family, a dog, an accountant...
Hi Happymouse ! I have to tell you that it's been on our minds to put Wellie up as Avator for quite some time, because we've got simply LOADS of ideas for her to feature in her own very SEASONAL avators, just to make people smile.
And I've never seen any flowerpot designs other than Wellie type design, so I can't suggest further, but I'm sure they are really fabulous.
Hi JB! Well spotted mate !! And to keep her looking even lovelier, I've linked her into my auto drip watering system, so that when we're at Les Piglet(tes) Birthday Bash, she gets a drink too !!
If anyone HAS got other flowerpot peoples/animals, it would be GREAT to see them.
They take a fair bit of time and patience to make, but hugely rewarding in the end, and like WELLIE, remind you of treasured moments.

What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity. The good they do is inconceivable....
Not flowerpot people ,I know, but there was a gardener in the village of Havenstreet here on the Island who used to have a shop dummy in his front garden. He used to dress her in all sorts of different clothes depending on the season and weather. She had yellow oilskins for the really bad stuff, yachting gear for Cowes week and a bikini for summer. It became a local passtime to see what she was wearing....but then we're simple folk over here!
There's a festival of scarcrows and flower pot people at Thoornton Hough on the Wirral every year.
Absolutly fabulous. The whole village is decked out and everyone makes the effort to join in. It's expanded so much now that they also have a Farmers Market and events for the kids to take part in.
Worth the journey over the river

Have you got any simple instructions or advice on the construction Wellie?
As for scarecrows, I have 2 - Mabel and Bert - and they get new clothes each season. This summer Mabel is wearing a blue and cream patterned cotton skirt, with a cream top, blue jacket and cream hat. Bert has black trousers with a white polo shirt and a white hat. Quite understated compared to some summers!

Oh, I think that's a GREAT idea Jops!
You go first ! Dare you....
The magazine could do a WONDERFUL article on everyone's creations, it would just be SUCH a lot of fun.
Hi Tigger !
Yes, a little hint: Use washing line to string the pots together rather than string, it's far more long-lasting. No hard and fast rule other than that, because I think it's important for each person to put their own creativity into the person or animal they're creating, otherwise everyone would just create 'the same', which would be boring.
Could we also, separately maybe, get 'the children of the future plots' involved in a TKG special as a competition, that TKG will judge at the end of the season and award a special PRIZE (to the relevant school, youth group or such like?)
As an annual event, this would add an extra bit of fun to their learning about growing, and get them interested in the magazine early on, to see their own progress and achievements on real pages, within a real readable magazine. No flies on me obviously (well used to working in media me...!)
AND.
Naturally, we should have our own adult equivalent to be judged by the magazine maybe ?
PRIZE being a day at their offices to see how it all works, and a slap up lunch with our illustrious editor.
I can feel a Chateaux Neuf de Pape or a Fleurie in the offing Piglet if you win...........
Can anyone add to this in such a way that the magazine might take note and act on this somehow?
I'd like to think so.

Right Lily and I are onto it
Shopping for parts this afternoon (Trago/Totnes)
We will begin construction this evening(potting shed)
It may take a while with my trusty sidekick!
I think I'll see what mine ends up as, rather than having an idea in the beginning
I like the idea of chidren of future plots too

Too late for me to arrange this year - will have to go next year
Hi Happymouse
Yep, it finishes tomorrow i'm afraid.
My mum went and she said it's getting better every year. You have to go in the morning cos it gets so crowded. There's people coming from all over, Cheshire, North and Mid Wales, Merseyside, Shropshire ect. It gets very, very crowded.
If you decide you want to go next year give me a pm and we'll see if we can work something out so that you won't have to pay hotel bills.
