I need help for our murky pond: we get green algae in it every spring but applying a small barley straw bale and the growth of a water lily and lots of frogbit usually means that the grunge disappears by mid-summer. This year, however, I keep having to pull out horrible stringy stuff even now. There are advertisements for some substance which promises to clear the water in next to no time. I am loath to threaten any wildlife (frogs, newts etc) in our pond. Has anybody used this stuff, is it any good?

My pond is the same I keep feeding fish I never see which isn’t a bad thing as herons hopefully will leave it alone, I have found that frogs have stopped behind this year instead of doing their normal vanishing trick I think the frogs are stirring the muck up on the bottom which makes the water cloudy ,I’ve tried all the chemicals on the market to no joy ,I do have a filter and 2 uv lights so I think I need to clean some muck out but I know I have a tench living in it so I am reluctant
