New Greenhouse

Exciting day today, my new greenhouse has started to be built. It is actually replacing an old lean too house that had seen better days. This one is much higher as it follows the roofline of the utility room.



I am having it made by a local chippy who is making a fantastic job of it. New floor goes in tomorrow and then the frame is to be painted prior to glazing. The frame is all treated so it should last a good few years I hope!

I am going to make the shelving and do the internal fit out so it will be ready for next years cropping!

And very nice that looks too, can't remember the last handmade greenhouse i saw, but it must have been a long while ago.
Jerry bet you don't wait until next year before you have something growing in there.

Says I could have made it bit larger, there was even talk at one point of removing the path at the end and including that space as well but my better half had thoughts about that!!!

Colour, well all the glazed area will be white to tie in with the house wood work. The half walls do not need painting as it is treated so we are leaving that for the moment to see how it looks.

Wow, I'm impressed. Does your local chippy travel?

I have a Southeast facing kitchen wall, facing the garden and it does not even have a window in it! I would love to have a greenhouse or conservatory built against this wall.

Jerry, I was only looking at the gable end the greenhouse is butted up to, I had not thought of more length.

Very pretty but is that really big enough to cope with all your requirements. You would only get one growbag-size tray each side, which means 8 seed trays and that won't include a dedicated work area.I keep on running out of room in my 25 x 10 footer at home and have to keep things moving on.Maybe we can have a report in a years time as to how it worked out.

I agree it is not that big, but I have 2 other greenhouses plus a plastic 6 by 4 house so I have enough space for my needs.

This new construction replaces a very old dutch light house that was well past it's best. This is actually slightly larger and far higher.

It wont be heated so will be used for mainly toms and hardening things of once the spring has warmed up enough.
