I've just been reading the Telegraph Gardening Section and there's an article which mentions water carriers. Apparently you can buy 30 gallon carriers, with pneumatic tyres but still in the old design from a company called Brettell Brothers. Go to http://www.brettellbrothersgates.co.uk/ and click on water carriers.

There's no price but I may give them a call shortly!

Chantal, we used to have one of those. :D

Very heavy stuff water and it can get a bit of a penduleum effect going if you do not have a smooth route. :?
Do not put off thanking people when they have helped you, as they may not be there to thank later.

My parents used to have one, difficult to manage, it ended up static and filled by hosepipe. I have toyed with the idea of putting a plastic tank on a trailer for a ride-on mower or small tractor to tow, similar can be bought ready-made at a price. Now we have a network of 20 mm buried pipes I don't need to carry water.

Having been to my plot last night, my thoughts exacly Peter, we have a rough path and I don't think I'd manage that let along getting it through the gate. Might be useful for someone with a posh garden, like Old Herbaceous perhaps...
