I've planted some asparagus from seed and 3 have come through so far. I know it will be 3years before I get a crop but it will take me a year to sort out a bed for them....... forward planning eh

What I want to know is, now that they have come through do I leave them in the 3" pots for the next year or should I pot them up in larger pots?

Also, do I cut the growing tips off and if so when?

Cheers.

If you don't intend to plant them until next year you will need to move them up to bigger pots, the bigger the better...2 litres minimum...you want to keep those plants growing strong. You will be surprised at the root growth when you plant them out next feb/march!

Leave all growth alone this year and just tidy up the dead stems in the winter.

Good luck.
