The Littlewick Show has been held on August Bank holiday Monday for a number of years, the profits of which go to local charities.
Not just a horticultural show but that was one of our purposes of visiting today. Did not enter anything but went along to look>
Local lady won the heaviest marrow competition, in fact she won quite a number of classes but it was noticeable that her name and those of two gents were the mainstay of the veg show.
Here is her heaviest marrow, mine is but a pimple on the end by comparison

Glad you enjoyed the show Pa. Our local show wound up after being in existence for 100 years. Very sad.
I can understand growing these ugly monsters for a bit of fun or as an accident but could never take it seriously. I can't see the point in wasting garden space on something coarse and inedible.

The entries in the veg section of this show seemed to come mainly from 3 people. Many of the classes only had single entries and at best 2 or 3.
I agree with you about the giant veg, however the serious giant veg growers will no doubt be present at the Malvern Show at end of September

Nice show Pa!
Good to see those who just grow can exhibit with confidence as well, nice mix of displays! That gives confidence to others, although a wee bit concerned about the scabby potatoes. I think there may be different names on some of the prize cards next year! OK! Maybe just me, but I do like the challenge of getting something similar! Wonder if my spuds would get a colour there? Not ruddy likely I'd say!

The spuds on the bottom left look like the ones I throw in the compost, I've never thought about entering a competition unless it's a fishing one but some of the things you have photographed are nowhere near as good as some of mine ,I'm sure there are people on here with far better veg than mine

Showing anything is subjective to a judges opinion. There were items entered that I would not consider putting on a show bench personally.
In the leeks class there was only one entry and that had signs of leak miner. It got a 2nd place card
