Thanks Pa. I'll not bother then I'll watch it on telly. I've enjoyed Tatton park a few times. I must say my favourite show is the Harrogate spring show but I missed that too.

I'm with those of you who think it's impossible to enjoy any aspect of a garden when you're packed shoulder to shoulder. Probably the only time to enjoy Chelsea is before the gates open or after they close. And to be honest I wouldn't pay those sort of prices if I couldn't enjoy some space in which to appreciate everything.

The exhibits may seem wonderful in isolation but real gardens are seasonal in a way that Chelsea will never be so I'm not surprised that many gardeners end up being disappointed with their efforts and the plants they buy once they get them home. As a small child I r remember my dad one year bringing home a magnificent expensive prize purple delphinium. The next year it barely flowered and was a pathetic specimen and the following year it didn't even appear. I suspect that is what Chelsea represents for many gardeners.

They should charge the "celebs" £500 for the publicity.

A few years back I was given two tickets for Chelsea and as it would be about the worst place to be for me I decided to raffle them and made over £500.00. which went to The Gardner's Benevolent Fund and that gave me far more enjoyment than Chelsea would have done. As a horticulturalist I find it very depressing and the worst show ever possible.

The only garden I would entertain, is the veg plot. How anyone would want one of these monstrosities in their garden is beyond me.

The one I seen briefly on the goggle box last night the rock garden looked like our plot when we first seen it

I am absolutely staggered that "that monstrosity" has won Chelsea Best in Show. What do we all think. Or am I missing something here? I was hoping Chris Beardshaw's garden would win.

And the winner is - the one I wouldn't have even given a medal to!
I was about to post that and found Diane had beaten me to it.
Chris Beardshaw had better win the Peoples' Award just to show the judges have lost it. He does good stuff up at Beechgrove if you watch it.

About to flick over & watch it. Do not like the green/blue arches garden. Actually not keen on too many, but quite like the veg patch but the jealous part of me wants a swarm of cabbage whites to devour the brassica's - no netting? Doh?

I'm afraid I may be finger wagging quite a bit at the TV!

When I first started work the company I worked for owned amongst other things 3 very large clay pits each one over half a mile in diameter any one could have won a gold dongle at Chelsea

Over the years there have been many times when I have wondered if the garden style actually has anything to do with who wins what.
Never more so than in the case of this years 'Best Garden'

Were those judges having a laugh, struck me as very Art Deco but a case of
not what you know but who maybe as the HTA were involved with the winning exhibit.
