Is it only Fiat that have things dropping off and failing ? We had a Fiat 500 because she said it was cute. So we had a Fiat 500.

I don't understand why so many people love cars made by a manufacturer who is happy about failure and issues.

My Fiat engine which is the last of the 2.8 JTD line has been faultless, it's all the other bits. If you buy a motorhome you'll find most are powered by Fiat, a lot of owners become blind after they spent a lot of thier pension pot. Blind to known failings on the basis they are only keeping the vehicle until the warranty runs out, I've read this on the forums. People criticising me because I want to mend my motorhome.

I could go on but I'll do it in bits.

This is always going to be a difficult one to answer, if you ask dealership salesmen they will always have vehicles they would like to get rid of, then, if you ask some people they are so polished in their view that you won't get a balanced view. So of these will be so overwhelmed by the amount of money they spent that they can't see anything other than their vehicle.

In my case I have a huge biase towards A class motorhomes and would never buy a coach built. You often won't have a choice of the power unit because Fiat are a major provider of power for motorhomes though Merks and Ford do get a look in. When I say Fiat this include the others all made in the same factory. Is it Sevel ?

A class are more expensive but mostly hold their price better.

In the case of my van I have yet to have another motorhome couple pop their heads in and wish they could have the space I have, in the A class the cab becomes part of the habitation rather than just stuck on the front. All motorhomes in my ten years experience are fitted with cheap kitchen furniture that is ill suited to bumping along roads and its why the wealthy amongst us motorhome owners only keep them until the warranty expire so there is a healthy second hand market that I recommend you look at.

This is ours, its an 2004 Burster with 34.000 miles, made by Hymer. This is a van to aspire too but I had to do a lot of work modifying and repairing. You get something like this in a coach built for £15.000. I will get close to £30.000 for this van. It was £50.000 new. The current one is £80.000.

If you can find a second hand van that has been genuinely cared for where the owner has addressed every issue as it occurs then that is a good way to go, sadly, few and far between.
