Show me your.... Christmas Tree

We got our tree this weekend as the next ones are too busy, so we thought we would start early (any excuse really). It lives in the conservatory so will be nicely chilled at night - that's the idea so a few needles might still be on the branches arrive Christmas.
At the sale I got a single strand of 500 led lights to replace my antiquated multiple ones, and for decoration it is difficult to show restraint... In my opinion when it comes to Christmas decoration on the tree, there is only one word - more.

Haven't decided which one yet, nearly three weeks to sort it out, anyway the chainsaw needs sharpening.

Diane - actually, nothing at the top yet. I just ordered a tree topping yesterday, should arrive this week!

Lovely Oscar.

Here's ours (mr Pawty picked it up earlier - glad it was a sunny day as he has a 2 seater convertible so logistics are always interesting!). I love decorating it - we've been fortunate enough to travel all over the world and I bring something back from each destination and turn it into a tree decoration. So it brings back floods of very happy memories.

Also, decorating the tree is the only time of the year I drink a couple of glasses of sherry - so cheers!

Thanks Diane. I want a new topper for the tree, but mr Pawty insists on keeping the bow - it's the first decoration we had for our first tree 17 years ago, when we had absolutely no spare money after moving into our first house, and all it had was the bow and a few baubles.

I'm just waiting for one of the cats to realise it's there....

We don't usually have a tree up, haven't for years after enduring pets knocking it down, breaking precious ornaments, electrocuting themselves and cutting their pads on broken precious ornaments. Everyday I came home it was down or trashed! However I have relented & have one this year that is pretty pet proof, bought the cheapest decorations & to date all treating it with the respect it deserves - but the kitten does like it & has had the odd whack.

The Xmas Lemon Tree! No lemons on it so thought why not & those handy thorns stop the climbing!

I'd show you a photo of a folded up Christmas tree still in a box in the loft somewhere but don't think I will get any plaudits for that. It has seen far too many Christmases already. Not sure if it's up to facing another one!

My Christmas tree is still in its bag in the cellar. It's 15" high and ready decorated. I bring it out two weeks before Christmas, sometimes hang a few new things on it. I might get it out and spray it with something citrus or suitably christmassy to freshen it up. I stopped getting a large tree as the cat thinks it's a toy for him to play in.

Yes, Cats and baubles on Christmas trees don't go together. We had the same problem when we had a cat. I would regularly return home from work in the evening and find half the balls all over the floor. I suspect it was the cat's way of saying "Well if you leave me alone in the house all day to get bored, what do you expect?" We didn't have a cat flap so he had to choose IN or OUT for the day when I left for work, and on cold winter days it was usually IN. But we always used to laugh because if it was raining he would go to the front door, sniff disapprovingly and walk straight through to kitchen door to check whether the weather was any better out there.
