Aargh this weather

Too much rain too many slugs,has anyone ever noticed how a little moisture brings the darn things out in hordes,I'm tempted to reach for the slug pellets but with an inquisitive dog around it's not practical.Tried making slug traps but they are much more interested in my newly planted pots!!.Can't keep up with the grass sprouting everywhere down the allotment,praying for fine weather this week to get some work done.

Last night, as it got dark, the sky cleared and had it been 12 hours earlier it would have been a perfect day. It's now pouring with rain, oooh WHAT as surprise! My sunken garden is under water again; it's only the paved area so no harm done and it will drain away slowly, but it's indicative of how hard the rain has been coming down for the last hour or so.

I've just seen the BBC forecast and it looks like rain for most of the day, another clear beautiful night, therefore very cold as the wind is coming from the Arctic, and then guess what's forecast for tomorrow folks? Ah well, they don't often get it right so I suppose there's hope.

Hi Chantal,
Here it has rained almost incessantly for the last 48 hours. I have sprung a leak on a Lead valley and
the first I knew of it was the water coming through the ceiling at 1 o'clock this morning and the landing swimming in water. When it stops raining I have got to get a ladder up and try and effect a repair but agility is not my forte nowadays.
Although it has rained all this time it has not so far flattened anything crop wise. This time last year I was making Hay and had a 5 day period of super weather. This year there is double the acreage and the weather is going to affect it badly if this continues.

Jonhboy, are you sure there is no one that can have a look for the leak. They always seem to be just out of reach when you find them, and with everything being wet and slippery we don't want any accidents.

It's still raining here and i'm starting to get webbed feet. I had to go straight for an appointment from school this morning and I was wet through. Was standing for over an hour dripping all over the floor. They should have put a cone and flares around me for safetys sake

Lottie is like a quagmire but the spuds are growing like billio. There has been no let up here since Friday, except for a couple of short dry moments on Saturday and Sunday for an hour. Being on clay soil it's going to take ages to dry out again so that I can sow directly.

Never mind, as gardeners we shall overcome

I can see the first bit of blue sky in 48 hours . It has heaved it down in Rugby all weekend. I`ve been fed up and gloomy like eeyore in a dark damp place. Now its stopped raining the ground is too sodden to do anything on the allotment . Oh well it can only get better (i hope)

Sorry to depress everyone but I've been on the weather forecast site and it's rain here in Leics until at least next Monday with temperatures of between 11 and 15. It's so COLD!

Been raining here all day too. I'm worrying about the lettuce seedlings I planted out yesterday - is there any point putting slug pellets down in rain like this?

Sorry to put a damper on it, but today I was mostly loosening of my scarf as it was so warm and hosing down an old ladies patio as she said it was looking a little dirty.First time I've worn my wellies for ages.

Rugby is sunny this morning and the Metcheck forecast indicates that it just might stay dry this morning (oops, a squadron of pigs just did a flypast).

Apart from having to go to work I suspect it'll be far too wet to do anything on the plot and then there's more rain forecast for this afternoon and the rest of the week. Thankfully our plots are pretty free draining as we have fabulous soil so a couple of days of dry weather and we'll be up and running. As soon as this cold spell is over I'm going to get the courgettes and beans out whatever the weather; they may as well benefit from a decent downpour (or 50).

Sunny here too for the moment but it wont last I fear. As half term is rapidly approaching it means I need to get the outdoor toms in the ground and the drip irrigations systems ste up in the greenhouses as we are away for a few days at the farm in Devon.

The rain is welcome but not the constant wind, wish that would abate as it is bashing the hell out of things.
