Very festive indeed Pa Snip, but i am a little disappointed by the fact that you made Ma Snip count every individual light bulb.... :D

like many our local council uses outside contractors for its recycling program, We are able to earn points which can be redeemed, using vouchers, in local shops & restaurants etc.

Today they are promoting recycling when shopping and I received this by email

If you haven’t done it yet, the big shop is almost upon you, so today we just wanted to give you a reminder – don’t forget to take an old bag shopping!

Bit presumptuous on their part I think to call Mrs Snip a 'old bag'

but more to the point ...........................................

if I take the old bag with me her present wont be a surprise

She came out the door clapping and shouting "I've seen the light"

Puts me to shame... no outside lights, no inside lights, no tree, have got some fake fir garlands across the beams and I hung up some Christmas cards this morning!

Went to the tip, sorry, Civic Amenity Site, this morning and got rid of some 'bulky household waste' (in the bin with the purple sign please madam') and encountered a meet and greet services guy. Never had that before, must be because it's under new management.

Bread rolls are rising in the kitchen and I'm about to feel moved enough to make a chocolate cake. Haven't partaken of any cake yet this Christmas as everyone sticks alcohol in them which I can't have. Not unless I want to be ill..... :(

I might put a tree up indoors with some lights on. On the other hand probably wont as Mrs Snip is, rather unsurprisingly in the circumstances, now suffering from stress and depression.

We will hang the Christmas cards up but that will probably be as far as it goes indoors.

Very much a case of my trying to make the best I can of it and making sure we do enjoy ourselves, hence the effort outdoors this year. Once upon a time I would have had that lot put up in no time, this year it took hours on Friday afternoon and evening and most of Saturday morning

very festive Pa Snip! I have one solitary garland of icicles on the porch roof!

We do have a tree up this year, we don't always, but we are hosting lunch this year, so felt I ought to really :)

Dear Motherwoman, i'm quite partial to chocolate cake, so don't worry if you make a large one... :D While on about cakes, i went to a memorial service yesterday and came back with the most perfect coffee and walnut cake, that someone had made me.....i'm not sure Cook was over impressed...

Just like you should never tell Cook how beautiful another woman is, never, ever, praise another woman's cake....

Rolls rose and cooked, cake is yummy.

.... :(

My goodness, stanndards are increasing. :D I like the thought of a Commissioner for Rubbish as long as my council tax isn't paying for it. Our council tip has been a little gold mine in the past. Many years ago the family responsible for running it appeared on the Antiques Roadshow with a fantastic collection of silver which had apparently been disposed of as junk over the years. I'm not sure what the arrangement is now but I'm sure the council will have a share of any profits these days.

We always know it's Christmas when the people across the road put a flashing red zigzag across the front of their house. This year it has some white stars at one end and looks rather like a snake passing wind. I'm very tempted to put something equally irritating along our railings in retaliation.

Could always do what my neighbour did when I was living in my old flat. The kids a cross the road caused all sorts of problems for our block, from buzzing on the door, to climbing on the balconies and roof. So for Christmas he got a rope light and wrote "f**k off you little t***s"
The council had him take it down asap, but the kids only got worse after that
