6.09 is a time I rarely make an acquaintance with, especially when the dark winter mornings arrive. I feel quite ashamed at my indolence when I see you and OH exchanging the time of day in what still seems like the middle of the night !

I agree Primrose. 6.45 am, when I have to get up for some of my craft fairs seems entirely unreasonable compared to 7.15 when I get up for work!

We've just had two of the most beautiful warm sunny days of the year - 1st and 2nd November. Add the glorious autumn colours and a flush of new flowers on lots of plants in the garden and I feel ready for whatever winter has to offer. Also the longer we can hang on to autumn the shorter winter will be. We are back to normal today though with low cloud on the hills and heavy dew on the grass.

Weather on 1st and 2nd was almost identical both days....................

Yes, same as Pa Snip's location here and very depressing. We're not too far away.
It's interesting to see the behaviour of the birds in this weather. They're very confused. Seem to think it,s permanent dusk and go on a frenzy of last minute supper feeding but always staying very close to the trees thinking the daylight is about to fade at any moment.
I have planted up a pot of brightly coloured mixed cyclamen on my patio and they have been glowing in the grey gloom like a cheerful beacon. Am hoping the frost stays off so they last as long as possible.

What a funny little country we live in weather wise. Our
valley was sunny all day but the next one was full of fog. So changeable too - no wonder it's our main topic of conversation. My son's Estonian friend said our weather was stupid when he had experienced sun, rain, fog and deep snow in the week he was here last December.

The lack of wind lately has meant that the falling leaves have dropped straight down rather than being swirled about and it's made collecting them so much easier. I have piled up several tightly filled black bin liners which will later be reduced to a large netting sack. Iit usually takes two years to produce proper leafmould but what gorgeous stuff it is!

Something is missing from my early morning forays on to the board, can't quite put my finger on what it is.
Ahhhhh got it, I haven't seen OH for a few mornings, missed his cheery wave and hello as he travels along this way to one of his regular morning voluntary jobs
Maybe he has been out there but I might have missed seeing him in the early morning darkness>
Morning OH

What sort of things are going on at 0.43?
I'm beginning to wonder if OH is doing an extra curricular early morning milk round? There's one that arrives at a house opposite us at about that time of the morning.

Such a strange light this evening just before dusk. It was raining hard with low cloud and no hint of any sun but there was strong pink/yellow glow in the sky which quite lit up the garden for about ten minutes before fading away. Every so often you get these strange tricks of light that are quite magical.
Still raining here. It will obviously dampen tonight's fireworks enthusiasts.

few miles away and not raining here now but as you say the light was fantastic, was almost a sepia tone sunset. Foolishly I didn't get out with the camera !!
