Hi to all....I'd welcome any advice as to growing beetroot in a container, 19" diameter 15" depth.
I have Bolthardy which I understand has to be soaked beforehand.
Is it possible to plant straight into container or should I sow into module first? (read about module sowing from a past thread)
Many thanks,

I have never soaked bolthardy seed before and my germination rate is good.
You could do either. I usually sow into blocks or modules as that gets them past slug damage. In a container you can stop the slugs so sow direct.

Hi Pete....the soaking beforehand I must have picked up from the previous thread on beetroot as it doesn't mention anything on seed packet.
So you would recommend sowing straight in to container?
And would I space them apart at the size I would want them to grow?
And one more thing, do they need feeding at all?

Sorry about all these piddling questions...
Many thanks,

Hi Glory B,
I think the thread you refer to was about 'sprouting seeds' not for sowing but eating the sprouts.
It is not necessary to soak Beetroot seed prior to sowing.
They should do quite well in a container with a soil depth of 15".
