Well oldherbaceous, I've certainly learned a lesson, stick to what you know works and don't buy seed just because they are cheap.
I, of course, could blame 'my cook' for not boiling them for long enough but my gentlemanly discretion wouldn't allow that.

Thanks for the link Geoff, a very interesting read. I notice that Enorma also did well a long with Red Flame. I was pleased to read that they grew them up four pole bamboo wigwams, the only way to grow beans in my humble view.
