OK not the best title I admit! Down at lottie & noted some good sized ( but not ready) outside cucumbers - brought back memories of the first one I ever grew! They had prickles! Was indeed gob smacked - couldn't grow them in Aussie so never saw a real one before & prickles were not expected!

What is everyone else's Gob Smacked moment when you started?

Absolutely Ron! I had to make sure they were ok before I let them loose on the rest of the family! (Or maybe I just didn't want to share  )

Hi Westi,
I was gobsmacked when I caught my first trout by fly fishing when I was 10 years old with my grandfather instructing me as what to do. My grandfather ate the trout because I was too upset at killing such a wonderful creature.
I do eat farmed rainbow trout from a local fish farm now and enjoy them.
I have never ever used a fly and line again since that day.
I can see the trout in the stream every day of my life now and that is where they deserve to stay.
JB.

I remember being totally gobsmacked by how prolific Courgettes are. The first year we had our allotment I bought five plants which looked at deaths door, for 20p, thinking I'd get at least one decent plant out of them. They all survived and I hadn't the heart to chuck them out, so I planted them all.

Ye gods.....we were inundated with courgettes. Turned my back for two minutes and there was a marrow sized one. ...or so it seemed.

I never plant more than two these days....and I've learned to be ruthless with surplus plants. If no one wants them, they go in the compost bin!
Happy with my lot
