June issue arrived today (a day or two late ?)
There are 2 packets of seeds, not 6.
Anybody else got this problem ?

Just arrived with two packets of seeds.
I've only flicked through but can't find any mention of 6 packets apart from on the front cover where it appears to be related to offer on page 94. Cover says "seeds plus orange tree worth £23 free just pay p&p" whereas the actual offer is orange tree worth £12.95 - I guess some sort of editing hiccup has lost "plus 6 packets of seeds worth £10.05".

The wording on page 110 of the May issue - Next Month - says there will be 6 free packets of seeds inside the June issue.

I got 2 packs, courgette & cauliflower. I don't mind, they are free after all :)

I do seem to remember getting a few packs last time though!

This Lancastrian agrees with the Yorkshireman - perhaps an excuse will be along shortly.

I've planted up my free courgette seeds...the packet said "average 12 seeds" and I got 15. :D

Just checked: I have six packets - courgette, rocket, fennel, cauliflower, lettuce and mooli radish.

Maybe I am a bit ungrateful and choosy, but I wish the gardening magazines DIDN'T present us will all these free seeds because I know exactly which varieties I want and prefer choosing those myself rather than using free ones which might not suit our growing conditions at all. In any case, by this time of the year I have long bought all my seeds or started using them, so I will keep some for next year and give the others away!

Most of us have bought our seeds for the season so anything I have free I put in our lottie shop and they do all go usually to the new comers who are grateful. We charge 10p a packet and it all adds to our funds.

I have a basket of my unwanted free seeds on my craft stall, with donations given in return to an orangutan charity.

Is it a difference between newsagent copy (Monika) and subscription copy (me and Alan@B)?

I think you have to read the small print in the June Mag. Page 110 it does say (Just pay P & P.)

I had 2 packets and I subscribe. cauli and courgettes.

I think you may have supplied the answer on the number of free packets, Geoff. As you say, mine is ordered from the village shop, but any subscription copies would presumably incur too much postage to warrant the six packets, especially with postage having increased last month.

(On that subject, we send a lot of magazines to family members living abroad and as from last month, the rubric 'Printed Paper' has disappeared, so they have to be sent letter rate which really ups the price! Privatisation!)

I subscribe and have received two packets. Already planted courgettes and caulies so will save them for next year. I must say the free seeds are rather predictable and I have huge numbers of basil, carrots and parsley that I haven't got round to planting so they probably so old they won't germinate.
