Why am I always distracted at lottie? I collect everything I need, head on down, battle with the padlock, raring to go! Do I do what I intended - nope note a weed or untidy bit & go off in a completely different tangent!

So next lot of spuds not in but legume beds look great & new raspberry bed nicely mulched, not to mention that well rotted manure I found had to make it's way back to the plot. And that last couple of bags of shallots for sale for 50p at the shop had to be adopted..... Oh well always next week!

I had a broad smile whilst reading this post, it sounded familiar Westi.

I don't get out of bed until I planned my day, I drink my two cups of coffee and arrange my day. Once I'm fed and watered, showered and clothed, I head off to my shed. My shed is fifty paces from the house, that fifty paces usually starts me digressing from my plans and by the time I completed my first digressed chore I've taken on further unplanned chores to the extent that on some days I completely changed my day.

I'm typing this on my iPad and I'm still in bed at just before nine, usually I'm out of the house and working by eight-ish though because of a sore back and hard day yesterday today's plan started with a lie-in and rest-day.

I never rest unless I'm ill, six blackberry plants to plant, little gem to pot-on, some digging on flower beds, 100 metres of Pembrokeshire bank to hit with that big Kawasaki brush utter.

If my new Rotasieve arrives today I'll probably fiddle with that for most of the day but one thing is sure, I'll be out of bed by the time this post hits the forum.

I didn't plant the blackberry plants nor did I attempt the Pembrokeshire bank. I did plant out little gem and I fiddled with the new rota-sieve for hours but Molly didn't get much of a walk.

How could anyone manage without a rota-sieve.

Today I didn't do it & what a productive day I had. I went armed with my list & worked through them one by one. I didn't prioritize my list unfortunately, but it was all jobs that had to be done! I also didn't finish my list - perhaps if I hadn't procrastinated before it wouldn't have been so long! :D

Let's see if I can maintain the change or whether those nettles under the artichokes have to become a priority!

Best laid plans eh?

I went to the plot with the intention of finishing digging the section I started on Wed and putting in the rest of the potatoes... and I actually did it!
Had a 'bonus' hour of clearing weeds from out of the autumn raspberries too. Loads of grass seedlings which I hate, give me big, proper weeds any time!! :)

I write lots of gardening "to do" lists and try and tick off at least two jobs a day. Went quite off list yesterday by deciding I hadn't enough garden for flowers and ended up lifting several metres off the end of the lawn, re-locating the turf to the end of the shrubbery and then turning and forking manure into the new bit of border. Oh well I've somewhere to put the dahlias now.

Re the rota-sieve, I have one that belonged to my father, but don't use it much as I feel terribly cruel killing all the worms and centipedes when I whizz the compost through it and you always miss a few if you try to pick them out first.

Hope I haven't led you astray with your new toy Richard. Did you manage to make something useful with it?

A fantastic recommendation from you Geoff and a sound investment for me.

I have a good reason to have a variety of jobs for the day though I do swerve and do 'U' turns, what it is, almost everything I do either makes me tire quickly or irritates a joint so I move to another job for an hours to make something else hurt. My favourite resting job is sitting on the ride-on mower.

The Rotasieve I just bought is another back-ache job with a spade but its such a satisfying chore to have an eight foot by two spade-width row sieved in about an hour, then I move to something else and something else then back to the Rotasieve-ing.

Grass cutting, is energy sapping but it gives my back and hips a rest.
