We've got a daughter who lives in Liverpool and a son in Manchester and even though Leeds isn't far away we'd rather be nearer.
Looking at the map, Warrington seems ideal but we don't know much about the area.
I've been looking at this to get a rough idea of house prices http://www.bridgfords.co.uk/forsaleoffice/Stockton-Heath/37 but I don't know how it copares with other places around there.
Can anyone suggest anywhere?

I'd stay where you are if I were you.
Assuming your children have moved for work, they'll appreciate coming back to the family home for special occasions.

Depends on your target travel time. Kirstie whatever suggested Helsby for a couple with two commutes to Liverpool and Manchester as well as the mad Hale or Timperley. I'm only just over an hour from each and seriously in the wilds. If you want to be cheaper and wilder look North (Ribble Valley?), expensive and post code conscious look to Cheshire.

That's very kind of you wanting to help the family out, lauralou.

All my family seemed to have moved as far away from me as possible. :)
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.
