After all the rain my back lawn has the densest and most widespread moss ever. What's the best killer - Ferrous Sulphate (50g/litre?) applied with a watering can, or spread lawn sand (water in with a hose if we don't get rain?). I've got a mechanical moss rake to remove it once dead.
Thanks for any advice.

I happened to mention to my mother that part of my lawn was more moss than grass.
Next thing I know she's contacted some gardening bod who sprayed her lawn and he's calling round to give us a price. Image

I'll pass on what I canImage

I sprayed an area about 8 x 8 metres with Fe. Sulphate last week - and turned the grass almost totally black, it looked terrible. Took me best part of a morning to rake 50% of the moss out (4 barrow loads!), so I'm not going to do any more. I've put some grass fertiliser down, so I'm just going to let it grow and mow over the top of the moss.
Our local radio station mentioned a moss killer called MO Bacter, which not only kills the moss but introduces bugs which eat the dead moss - no raking! But it's expensive and a user said the moss was 10 times worse the next year!
