Oh No! I can feel the waiting list increasing again! Lots of pressure on us again to 1/2 our plots to meet demand until it goes back to what it is now with all the new faces who were so inspired initially disappeared & the rest of us left surrounded by unkempt plots & rubbish!

Great! :( :(

Don't think anyone will take our empty plots right now unless they can row a boat Westi.

Birmingham Council raised the rents from £20 to £75 in 3 years.

Result - 80 plot site goes from 2 vacant plots to 32, 12 plot site down to 5 only in use.

I think we could do with a few more tenants, even short term, to avoid the 'oh, it's under used,we'll merge sites & sell the land'

Our plots are 10 pole, we have just had to put our rents up to £15 per plot to cover last years water bill.

SSD (need to see your pic) :D - our plot already at risk - latest offer is we move over the border into Hampshire to 2 split plots about 2 miles from each other....hmmm?? Will have to browse the allotment act (although I do have faith in the committee) as I know distance is mentioned am not sure they can dump you in the next county!
Their other option is compulsory purchasing a diary farm about 1/2 mile away but already offered land opposite there that wasn't suitable for growing anything!
This all started when we had over 100 on the waiting list! Funnily public consultation for the new housing showed nearly 80% of the residents said leave us & build around the site the council choose to ignore this.
