It's all change here as my OH has been offered a job in Southampton. Not sure how I feel about it but it's such a good opportunity, I just don't like big changes
Can any of you Southerners suggest some estate agents? So far we've talked to these http://www.austinwyatt.co.uk/forsaleoffice/chandlers-ford/1043/ as there seemed to be a lot of their signs around when we went down for the weekend last week but some more recommendations would be good. It's a bit daunting, trying to sort it all out from so far away.

Dear PieGirl, i'm afraid Southhampton is further South than me, so i can't help with the Estate Agents. I'm not one for changes either, but i have found that if i really treat big changes as a huge challenge, i can get my head round it and then are able to look for positives instead of negatives.

Just look at all the big boys that are national & look at the local paper online & you'll get a feel for what is around. These guys will also steer you to the right areas in S'ton as there a few dodgy parts you need to avoid at all costs!

S'ton is really easy to get to from the eastern side of the New Forest as well so don't limit yourself to the city itself! We are near Christchurch & can get to S'ton in 1/2hr via the Forrest routes & if not peak hour about the same via the motorway!

Of course you could just google the allotment sites & aim in that direction!

Thanks everyone, and Westi, that's worth knowing about the New Forest, I love it around there.
Funny you mention the allotment That's one of my main concerns, ours was in a pretty bad state when we got it, full of rubble as it had been the bit where everyone dumped their rubbish and it's taken a while but we've got it just how we want it, got a new shed, the lot and all the allotment old boys have finally started talking to me
But I do like a challenge and things are sometimes just meant to be.

Lots of luck on your move. It's great here - a tad warmer too. I'm in Wimborne - takes about 30 mins to get to Southampton. The New Forest is beautiful and there are loads of little villages dotted around.

All I can say about Southampton is its very handy for the cruise liners and I do like to sail from there when I get the chance. The city seems vibrant with many shops and a university but I appreciate change is difficult. As I have grown older I've become a right 'stick in the mud', literally, living in Somerset all my life surrounded by all this muddy flood water. I think change can be an adventure when you are young but becomes more difficult when you become older. I wish you all the best if you do decide to move.
