Weatherman has just said there will be a widespread frost tonight.

I've still got geraniums out - so off to unearth the fleece to protect them.

I don't think i have got anything left outside now, that will hurt from a touch of frost.

Apart from cook, that is. :)

We've just got home from a week in the Lake District. We brought our onions from the shed to our utility room and all our seed packets in to a safer place. And I have put plastic cloches over the lettuce in the poly tunnel.

No frost here this morning but it couldn't have been far off. Very clear and brisk, blue sky, plane trails and the low sun making everything look wintery. I might do some more border tidying later on if the wet gets off everything. Or I might paint the rest of the loo.

White on the ground this morning and the Lake District mountains are white on top as though there has been some hail or snow up there.

No frost here either - in spite of my dire warnings to everyone. Still, it's only a matter of time. We have blue skies and pretty clouds this morning. :D

We Have blue skies too, but with the odd manly cloud passing over. :)

The car windows started freezing just after 7 a.m...

Absolutely beautiful day here! Got loads done even though soil was a bit soggy it did make it easier for pulling the weeds! It was pretty close to a frost this morning so had a chance to cover some more crops as well before we get the real deal & possibly the last bunch of dahlia's for the vase.

Heavy frost here this morning. Spent all morning cutting back our flower beds :( Normally we have done this before now, but on a GW programme a few weeks ago MD said to leave the flower seed heads on to look at. Well we did but it is now a horrid job to cut back the wet soggy flower heads from the echinacea etc after the frost this morning. We have put our garden table and chairs away in the shed until next year and brought all our onions into the utility room to prevent frosting as we have no other area to keep them frost free.

I am going to put a rail up to fasten the onion ropes to to keep them over the winter. :)

Beautifully sunny day here after early frost, though just down to -1C.
Collected a lot of leaves for making leafmould, dug up some Jerusalem artichokes (great big whoppers this year - must have been all the manure we put on last winter!) and started on the sweet pea and bean trench.
Could do with a few more days like today!

Hi

Yesterday was glorious :D plenty of sunshine but cool, cleared my pumpkin bed and my pea & bean trench so I have enough to fill one compost bin :)
I am picking up a new compost bin this week as the council are selling them for a £5-00 each :D

Regards

Arnie

First frost of the year this morning.

Hopefully it will slow the weed growth down an bit :)
Cheers PJ.

I'm just off down the greenhouse. I won't be long...........
