To say I really don't want to go to a christening tomorrow! I want to go to lottie and hoe etc (Yes friends- of course I'll go to christening!)
What have others sacrificed for a day at lottie! (& I don't mean you're direct family events)

Not really sacrificed as like you I had to attend under pain of death. mine. My OH doesn't seem to realise I work with people all day everyday and sometimes get fed up with their wingy winey ways so the lottie is my bolt hole. I plug in my ipod and I'm in my own world. No it's not selfish just you want and probably like me need some me time. Happy gardening to all.
PS I am dowm lottie today come rain or shine.

I would ask if it's selfish to inculcate an infant into a faith of which it has no notion?
Allotment, but little achieved.

Hi Felix - Just what I wanted to say but didn't dare. Quite agree.
Cred air o bob deg a glywi, a thi a gei rywfaint bach o wir (hen ddihareb Gymraeg)
Believe one tenth of what you hear, and you will get some little truth (old Welsh proverb)

I keep a migraine in reserve for such occasions....the minute the car has gone I'm up and doing what I wanted to do in the first place. Naughty I know but how many weddings, birthdays, anniversaries etc can a person from a large family with a partner from a large family find time for AND have a life...

Children don't have a religion...their parents do. Have to agree with Felix and Alan on this one.
But, back to the lottie, how many times do you just want to get on with a bit of quiet weeding and the on-site know-it-all comes and tells you that you're doing all wrong, or your sheds not right or some other bit of total ****. I had him visit me yesterday and one day I will be very, very rude!
As for family events, No2 son is getting married next Monday, civil ceremony, (brought my boys up with free and open minds!) I'm anxiously checking the weather, I'd be happier if it rained a bit.... although it's not until the afternoon...

I don't think I have ever actually given up anything to go to the lottie but it is my bolt hole too. A decision right at the beginning never take our problems or anyone else's for that matter to the lottie. A place to be quiet and potter if you want to or there is always someone to natter about gardening with if you want to. And yes, we have the know-all's, like all sites but I politely listen then ignore every word unless it is worth trying.
Westie, by the way My Plum Beauty is looking very sad, it has Blossom Rot, caused I have found out by the cold wet spring. I have a lot of pruning to do to try and save it. We were flooded for so long I expect the roots have been sitting in water for far too long.

I went to christening! Was better than expected - & it rained all day! Drank champagne & lots of kids there but all happy thanks to bouncy castle & face painter! Don't feel too bad as wouldn't have been able to do much on lottie! (& more importantly met my new kitten)
Becoming a mad Cat Lady - but don't care! (OK only 3 cats but working my way up & my 1st cat is 13 so I just call it replenishing!)
