My local B@Q have got turf on offer today, £1 a roll.
I suppose with the Easter holidays and thinking we would have the same weather as last year they seem to now have more than they can sell.
My question is how long can I keep the rolls of turf without damaging it, as although we don't have any snow on the ground it is freezing cold.
I don't think it would be safe to lay it with the weather at the moment as watering them would possibly do more harm than good and any advice on how and where are the best places to store them would be gratefully appreciated
Many thanks

You can roll the turf out onto any hard standing – concrete, tarmac, paving. It will keep fresh that way better than if left rolled up, when it goes yellow and starts to root into itself. With temperatures near freezing, it's going to keep well even rolled up, though: if you think how grass survives being under snow for several weeks. Not that it looks too lively afterwards, but then turf that's been left rolled up for too long can quickly recover.

You don't need to water turf, unless it looks like drought.

I suspect gardening centres are in for a lean time this Easter. Some years they have the summer bedding already in stock, which is always a bit previous, in my view, this year more than any other.
Allotment, but little achieved.
