Snowing heavily here too. Roads looking increasingly dodgy and trying to make up my mind whether I'm going to be able to drive to keep a hospital appointment later. Feel very sorry for the birds. Tried to give them a good feed while the ground was still clear. They've mostly disappeared now.

At 4pm it has just stopped snowing. Got about 5 inches here. Just been out to clear a patch of snow from the grass to give the birds a last feed as the light fades. I'd barely got back indoors before there were about 30 different birds down to feed. I am glad I'm not having to sleep in a bare tree tonight!

It's even snowing down here in the tropical end of England! Some dodgy spots but everything still moving - might be different if it all freezes though! Supposed to be more to come - will wait & see as looked at two weather reports and both different!

Snowing hard here now, on top of lying snow but at least it's not as cold as the previous few nights (down to -7C). The snow should keep the bulbs and earlier risers warm, too, but no doubt tomorrow I shall have to shake the snow off the brassica net again and emerge looking like a snowman/woman/person.
Having grown up with plenty of the white stuff about and not being a driver, I must admit I love snow, but I do sympathise with anybody who HAS to travel in it.
So I hope you are are all safe and sound can reach your destinations!

Yesterday and this morning were like Spring days here. It's clouded over now but still no snow. 8c at midday both days and 21c in my tunnel. Nights have been down to 1c Thursday and 4c last night.

I hope it clears up for you all soon. The reports on the television from UK are horrendous.

Regards, Gerry.

I can't believe what a fuss the media are making out of this bit of snow. We've had about 4 inches here with a few deeper drifts. There was a bit more in Wales and it looked worse where it was being blown by the wind, and I'm sure it was pretty bad where the power lines came down.
But really we are pathetic and I'm sure a lot of European countries must be laughing at us getting in such a mess with so little snow.

What has happened to snow chains and snow tyres? People don't know how to drive in these conditions any more. Twice this week cars have come down a steep hill to join my road and applied their brakes at the last minute causing them to spin round and slide across the junction sideways into on coming traffic.

There's just a fine sprinkling of snow coming down at the moment and it isn't settling on the paths I've cleared. The council has even gritted our road which is very unusual.
