Xmas is over & New Year is coming - anyone making any resolutions? I try not to but get caught up each year but thinking what I'd like to improve on. For starters:
a) Better record keeping of Lottie's progress & weather
b) Keeping to my planting plan & not squeezing in the extras
c) Healthier eating
d) More Mulching
e) More water butts (mind might not need them!)
f) Better work / lottie balance
g) More photos of progress
h) More flowers in amongst the crops
i) Try at least one brussel sprout
j) More regular feeding of toms, peppers etc
k) Take up pavers in greenhouse or find a better alternative to growbags
l) Teach dogs what is path v's what is beds
m) Make some brassica cages rather than throwing over some environmesh that blows away
n) Turn the compost more regularly

I could go on but depressing myself wondering how I'm going to achieve this and all the way to z)! Might just stick to record keeping - the only thing in last year's diary is a bit of sowing, to do's & when adder comes out of hibernation...then BIG GAPS...then nought! :(

My resolution I will try to concentrate more next year when I am up the allotment,
I mean stop wasting time looking around and thinking I should of done this, that or put that over there...
I know I'm still new to all the space but I do like to just look at it all :)
Concentrate...weeds, weeds, weeds

My resolution is to carry on just as i am, and enjoy the highs of the allotments.

Might just try and be a little kinder to Old Codger. :)
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

I shall carry on regardless....except I shall try my hardest NOT to plant the entire contents of the seed packet...just a sprinkle. There are only so many sprout plants, spinach plants, cabbages, etc. etc. that I can fit in my raised bed and/or force on to my gardening friends. :D

My resolutions are to finish the job I've gone out to do before drifting off to do half a dozen other things that catch my eye, and the other is to do much more hoeing - weather permitting.

My first resolution is to get through "No alcohol January".  I shall then get my seed box out of the garage and try to germinate my various Vegs in a little more orderly sequence than I did last year. And I shall endeavour to encourage my non-gardening O,H. to help with a couple of heavy manual jobs that are a little beyond my capacity to tackle.

One resolution is to join in the forum more often instead of just watching you all.

In my defence, I have had one hell of a year which has taken my mind off stuff like the KG Forum. In a nutshell:

Found out Tim preferred a woman who bought her veg from M&S
Divorced him in April
Got together with the man I wish I'd married 20 years ago (Sean)
Married him in May
Pulled the house apart and redecorated just about every room
Had the (old) kitchen cabinets fall from the wall and try to kill me
Ripped out the whole kitchen before further assaults occurred (new one almost complete)
Acquired 8 new chickens
Acquired 2 new cats (Gracie and Filbert)

So, all in all, a busy year. :D

2013 can't be quite so dramatic, can it?

Dear Chantal

I suppose it's mixed commiserations and congratulations.
2013 is bound to be better for you. I wish you all happiness and fulfilment.

Thanks Alan, all a bit of a shock to start with but everyone is now very happy and we all get on very well. Life's too short for recriminations and regrets.

What's really brilliant is that Sean just loves gardening and being at the allotment, cleaning out the chickens etc. In 10 years, I only recall Tim visiting the allotment about 6 times and 5 of those he sat in a chair and read the paper! Life is just peachy. :D

Sounds lovely, Chantal. All the very best!

As for my resolutions: just like OH, carry on as usual and hope I'll still be here at the end of the year.

We all have a path to take to happiness - you found yours Chantel - well done! A man that does...they do exist! :D

Mine doesn't read the paper but makes such a fuss about everything I suggest he does & then takes hours to sort 'a plan' it's time to go home! Hasn't quite got the capacity to think it's a lottie (not perfect) not home - which is another story! :D (10 yrs waiting a new bathroom!)

PS He's still mine though & things do get done ...eventually!

That's quite a roller coaster year Chantal, but glad everything has worked out for you. We'll look forward to seeing you on here more regularly hopefully in 2013. And please keep all the animal updates coming!
