Of to the Panto with the school this morning!!!!

Can't wait!

Bit like a kid on Christmas morning (well a lot like one really :lol: :oops: :roll: )

Must be over 15 years since I last went to one :D

Many, many moons ago, when I was nowt but a lass, I was part of the chorus in my (then) local production for 5 seasons and it was a fabulous thing to be part of. Funny and chaotic but such good fun and brilliant memories [sigh]. OOps getting a bit nostalgic there :oops: :wink:

Been coaching my 2 little ones in the art of:

"He's behind you!" and "Oh no he isn't" and the absolutely essential use of "Boo! Hiss!"

My eldest has expressed concern and sympathy for her 2 younger sisters based on her recollection of my enthusiastic participation during the last panto I took her too :lol: :lol: - tells me the fact she can remember it in such clear detail should tell me something (she was 6ish and is now 21!!!) Hee Hee Hee

Right got to go do hairs and stuff

Years since I've been to a panto too. Stage managed amateur pantos (came naturally as I was a production manager in a factory at the time) for almost 10 years to raise money for the local sports field. We had a fantastic time. Some things stand out. One year took a lot of trouble building a waterfall for Aladdin's cave, put a fluorescent dye in the water and lit it with a uv lamp and got the accolade from one of my colleagues "that looked just like real water". Used to like the special effects like smoke and especially the flash boxes. First year I used them I put a bigger and bigger charge of powder in as the week went on so come the Saturday night final show fired them off and blew the main 65 amp fuse and plunged the Town Hall into darkness (in case you don't know, they work by creating a short to fire the powder). Luckily someone from the Electricity Board was in the audience and amazingly produced the correct fuse and we carried on after a short delay. Happy times!

It was a really good morning and most of the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Some of the youngest ones found it all a bit over-powering though and not all of the content was age-appropriate even for a Panto.

Geoff, I remember the scenery catching fire during the opening scenes of an Dick Wittington production I was in and we were being frantically whispered at to keep on singing as stage hands donned spare costumes and tried to put the flames out :)
