Hi Geoff

Looks like a good example of mature Lycoperdon perlatum Common puffball/Devil's tobacco pouch - in Wales Snisyn y bwgan (Bogeyman's snuff).

Thanks. My wife decided that later especially when she found one that hadn't burst under a nearby Birch. They are just rather small which is what put me off thinking they were puff balls.

Phew what a scorcher, 15.6°C this afternoon.
A few days ago was watching the straggling Swallows go past and today we had three Bramblings -what a strange year.

Looks like we're in for a rare NW Wales "drought" - no rain for the forecast future. And bright sun and blue skies this morning - none of the rain/fog/cloud elsewhere on today's forecast :D :D

Too soggy to do any gardening, so yesterday the dog & I went to watch a 3pm KO rugby match at 9:30am and managed just over 18 miles, arriving in time to sort the beer trailer out by the no 1 pitch. She then looked bored while Julie & I took over £1,200 off the thirsty. Sadly our team didn't win and "Chunky" broke tib & fib when tackled hard, leaving in an ambulance.

3am today it was hosing down, now trying to rain, so an indoors day, thank heavens I decided on doing our weekend walk yesterday. :)

Afternoon O.H.,I trust that you didn't order your potatoes from Dobies.I received their catalogue yesterday and astounded to see that they are asking £4.99 a kilogram reduced to £3.49 a kilogram for three packs or more :!: ,and a "Carriage Contribution" of £4.99.What happened to "Post & Packaging" :?: I am only paying £1.00 a kilo in our Allotment shop. :D
Regards snooky

Afternoon Snooky, no allotment shop in Milton Bryan :) so paying about double that price from, JBA seed potatoes, postage was £3.99 for 20kg, so not too bad.

I can see the price of seed potatoes rocketing after Christmas, but i may be wrong.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

I don't know about Geoff (who doesn't live too far away as the crow flies), Alan, but here we have have had two lovely autumn days with wall to wall sunshine without a trace of fog! I think the fog has been further east and in the valleys whereas Geoff and we live "above it". Sounds very superior, doesn't it?

Worked on the allotment yesterday - not a cloud in the sky and not a breath of wind - gorgeous. Today it was the garden's turn. Last bulbs planted, lawn sorted and bits of shrubs cut back.

A couple of kilos of potatoes, 5 parsnips (a little early I know but needs must), onions (very small), tomatoes, 3 small pumpkins and the last of the runner beans picked/dug up from the school allotment ready for Harvest Festival on Wednesday :D Very tired now but also satisfied :)
