Is it age or did this countdown go exceedingly quick? It only seemed a short while ago I was moaning about the news etc talking about it when the stadiums were not even built - and now here it is!!!

It costs a lot of money which may or may not be re-couped but I must admit I do like watching the best in the world compete and am quite looking forward to it. (Especially after Mr Wiggins & Cavendish did their bit today!)

Having followed TdeF for years it has been a real treat this year. Just worried that Sky's avowed intent to dominate will include the TV rights, ITV4 coverage has been free and brilliant. Just hope that beaming salute can translate from the Champs Elysees to the Mall next Saturday!
Will watch other sports as well - I use Freesat (Freeview Lite out in the sticks is another rural scandal like broadband) so will have 24 HD channels to select assuming the wife doesn't steal the remote.

Only 3 days now - or one day if you count the women's football in Cardiff! Can't say the excitement is mounting. I did manage to get a cheap ticket for the women's beach volleyball :) Unfortunately it was for the game between Iran and Saudi Arabia :(

Opening ceremony is only hours away now - I do hope it all goes well.
Is it too late to ask that we are spared the wailing of Mr E. John, the groaning of Mr P McCartney, Mr T. Jones and other geriatic singers who always seem to be wheeled out on these occasions? They are past their 'best before/sell by date' now. Let them stay at home and relax in front of the tele like the rest of us.
Though Mr B. Forsyth was in good form yesterday with the torch.
John

Agree John - they have had their 2 mins of fame with the jubilee so time to move over. Am a bit concerned - Tiger feet & nurses running around after pts that can jump on the beds - get them out of hospital, if they are fit enough to jump on the beds they are obvious bed blockers!! Give up their bed to the 'past it's'!

Hi Westi,
Having praised the proceedings of last night I think that we could have done without Mr P. McCartney at the end. I thought he was very 'over the hill' as John forecasted.
JB.
