Metro newspaper website

At last a (relatively) mainstream article highlighting the potential of the "icky" bits from the abattoir and the ethical/moral case for using the "fifth quarter".

Offal can be very nice, think of steak and kidney, liver and onions. Tripe done Provencal style is lovely.
I don't much like the idea of brains and eyes, but if presented well I would give them a try

Try finding a butcher who, knows about these bits and pieces and can source them for you should you wish to give a recipe a try ! My Dad used to love sweetbreads and there is nothing wrong with faggots. I'd never heard of them untill I moved south.

Cheers, Tony.

Give anything a go personally.

Sweetbreads yummy yum just fried up in a bit of butter. Find it add that these days you have to order offal in from the butcher.

Seriously do not like liver, always thought it was the texture but I had zebra and the taste was similar but with a venison fillet texture. (Bison was nice though)

And tripe - saw it, tried it, hated it (a street seller in Hong Kong - maybe I should give it a go again.

(Had ducks feet too - rather pointless)

Trixie74. When I worked in the docks many moons ago, ducks feet were exported to China.I know we imported ants in chocolate. Tried some, all you could taste was the chocolate.
