Now that's what I call rain!

Talk of hosepipe bans always brings it on, and combined with a Bank Holiday Monday - a sure-fire guarantee of downpours!

Started here dead on forecast cue at seven last night (kindly stopping at eight to allow me to shut the hens and ducks in), continued all night and is now hammering down and forecast to continue till seven tonight. Forecast for the rest of the week? Showers every day! And we were only slightly dry here after the hot weather.

Ah well, at least we're not waking up in a tent on one of the campsites down on the morfa (sea marsh) which flood every time it rains heavily.

We even have a nice steady rain here this morning, the lawns will certainly be appreciating it, as they were starting to look quite yellow....

Blissful rain in the night.. hoping for lots more today then dry tomorrow for market..Frost warnings for tonight though.. my frost covers double as rain covers for the stall so need to be canny as it is still dark when I leave at 5.30 am...

Just to show what it's like here - promenade at Criccieth at 10 this morning. First one through the van window to show the raindrops, second outside in the rain. Normally, on a Bank Holiday Monday, it would be thick with parked cars.

You wanna get out East, Singapore, not Norfolk to see rain. Solid it was, every afternoon 3pm - 4pm. Still, it washed away the muck and bullets! Cheers, Tony.

Gosh those photos of Criccieth bring back memories! Last time I was there it was during the terrific drought of the 70's and on the last day of our holiday there the rainclouds opened and suddenly the rain came teeming down from nowhere. It had been so dry that we just stood there enjoyingthe raindrops teeming down our hair & faces.

I suppose the water authorities in the South & East will be grateful for the rain because at least gardeners & allotment owners won't be using up existing water resources. I have dug water retention crystals into all the patio containers which will later contain my tumbling tomatoes but to do this all over my vegetable growing area would be too expensive.

We are all panicking about the drought but I wonder how we'd manage if we lived in Africa and had to cart all our water in heavy clay pots on our heads!

Yes ever since the hosepipe ban in Lincolnshire its been raining almost every day since. Just checked the 10 day forecast, and for the next 9 days it just says Rain/Showers.

I thought if I just sprayed soap over my car and drove quickly through the rain I could still get a good car washing ;o) (maybe)

Must try that! Deluges here again today... My present wee old car is yellow and while that means it is easy to find in car parks it shows the dirt and on muddy Irish roads... yukk!! Goes green in places with moss too in amazingly short time...

If the latest April/May forecasts are to be believed we ain't seen nothing yet. And look out for snow!

I keep looking at my lawns and thinking about mowing them. But they are hardly growing at all. Haven't had to hoe any weeds either.

Definitely worth delaying sowing tender plants.

It's getting going again here with a vengeance - hail already this morning!

I want to uncover my early potatoes to weed, earth up and let them get some water but am worried the hail showers could all but destroy them. I was planting onions and shallots grown from seed last week when we had massive hail, thunder and lightning (why do we always call it that when the lightning comes first?) which has not done them much good.
