Parsnip sowing

OH - I also station sow with 4 or more seeds. Try to space them so I can more easily thin out but seeds sometimes stick together.

I sowed mine direct this year over a month ago and not a single seed seems to have germinated yet. I'm wondering whether to resow. In previous years I've used the chitting and loo roll method with a good degree of success.
No doubt if I resow the first batch will confound me and I'll probably end up with two lots of seedlings at different rates of growth but that's parsnips for you !!
Right now the ground is too wet for sowing anyway as we seem to have had almost non stop rain for a week so perhaps all the seeds have rotted!

Hi Primrose,
It has been a funny year with seeds - some tomato Ferline took three weeks to germinate and I was about to give up hope. Like wise the new potatoes have been slow to come up - considering you can plant parsnips early on in the year I would give them a bit more time and if no show then replant. I am still waiting for carrots to show - I will give them another couple of weeks and then reseed. A bit of sunshine and warmth and everything will take off - I hope!

Ditto Primrose! I know they are slow to germinate but I think I have
given them enough time and am going to re-sow another row. Thought I do it fairly close and if the other row does come up then I'll take some as mini's so the others can fatten up. They will get eaten for sure!
