Ireland is lovely but .... I cannot get a line out on my phone since yesterday. Different companies for phone and broadband as many rural Irish exchanges are still not equipped for broadband and the radio /mobile coverage is very weak also. Oh and I cannot afford a mobile anyways.

Last year in desperation I had digiweb satellite installed. Incredibly thay cannot yet do phone calls via satellite; maybe next year ( Irish next year can be a decade hence) So I perforce stayed with vodafone for phone calls.. If you want to see how vodafone is seen, go to boards.ie vodafone. They have a whole forum just for major issues with the company who have now bought up all the smaller phone companies. It has been a nightmare of overcharging, including taking illegal payments from my credit card, and never any real service; I only got as far as I did though threats of legal action. Needless to say they have not answered my emails; I suspect an erroneous disconnection. Still have a dialling tone but a busy signal cuts in; yep they are supposed to leave operator and emergency access. but no.

So today spent trying to organise a different way to get phone calls; back and forth emails to a company called blueface, but cannot get a straight answer re if digiweb is compatible.. nor can digiweb give that assurance; try it they advise...

Going to be a looooooooong silent weekend ahead. New swear word is VODAFONE!

Ah well! And thanks for being here. hate being without communication and family overseas hate it too, especially in a situation like this.

They are within their own range only; I need to call landlines overseas...blueface should work fine as it goes via the modem. WHich i think is what you mean? Their rate is 2,000 minutes world wide for E24.99, landlines and all...no rental... I tried to find digifone but could not sort it. Whatever, I am ditching vodafone! Period!
