Why no potassium permanganate?

Can't identify that mould? Got a great tip for keeping slugs at bay? Suggestions for organic weed control? Post them here...

In an article in the current KG about damping off of seedlings, there is no mention of potassium permanganate which I have used for this purpose for years. It isn't often needed, but useful to have around - or is it now illegal?

I've heard of it being used as a cheap mahogany dye and a cure for athletes foot. But never to stop damping off. I'll remember that. :D Cheers, Tony.

It's also useful as a mild disinfectant in water butts although it does make the water a funny colour. I believe it is used as a drinking water sterilizer so should be available to buy.
