Gorgeous here too, gave the lawns at the big house their first cut of the year, this afternoon, what a transformation it makes to the garden.
I think the owners were rather pleased at getting their Spring garden back once more.....
Also finished the last of the digging off in the vegetable plot, it was amazingly dry for this time of the year.

Isn't it great to be working in he garden in shirt sleeves?! Not for long, it appears.
We spread one tonne of lime stone chippings onto the paths in the garden. They had begun to look rather tired as the chippings had gradually been pressed into the ground. Now they are beautifully white and clean again for a few more years. They also reflect the sunlight onto the rest of the garden!
Cut-and-come-again lettuce, rocket and radishes are coming up in growbags in the unheated greenhouse. Sweet peppers, chilli peppers and celeriac are about an inch high and the first peas and broad beans are in roottrainers.
Today, the potatoes from T&M were delivered and are out in egg boxes for chitting.

Deterioration continues this morning - snowing heavily at 1°C.
Yesterday I rearranged the greenhouse to make space for all the things that were coming out of the propagator. Cleaned the containers and mixed the compost to do the next batch of sowing to refill the propagator. Just as I was thinking I was well organised the 160 plug plants I'd ordered for tubs and bedding arrived so I've got more compost to mix and space to find for 170+ (very generous count from Jersey Plants Direct) potted up plugs.

Morning Geoff, not as bad as you, here, but very wet indeed. So saying that, we do need a large amount of rain to bring the water table up.
I did some rotovating with my Howard Gem yesterday, and that is the driest i have known the soil at this time of the year.
I agree with you about Jersey Plants Direct, very good value, and servive.
I have only had one lot of plugs from them that were not up to standard, and they replaced them without question, these had been stuck in the post as well, so not really their fault either.

Just an odd spot or two of rain here..so far...up to 40mm with sleet is forecast....Mum was out early to lift some Carrots and Parsnips having heard the forecast.
I have just clicked online and ordered an ARS pruner....an ARS telescopic long reach tree pruner. I posted a question a while back to see if anyone had used this brand of pruner. Anyway,...I was tipped over the edge to buy one this morning by an email £5 off voucher.....so that worked.!
Watch out Bay tree..
The Primula malacoides that were part of the house flower display for last weekends wedding event were ex Jersey Plants.

The heavy rain has now turned to snow, so gardening is out today.
I did manage to sow all my tomatoes, aubergines, peppers in a nicely cleaned out propagator and three types of onions, so feel the season has started at last.

Raining heavy and steadily here now like we haven't had for ages. I have just come back from a visit to work and its like driving in a river out on our dished roads.
We need the rain...but wished I could have got more done in the dry last week as it was going well...

Properly raining today...and I've just noticed that the temperature has dropped to 2.9C... So decided to take a look at repairing a Hornby Dublo Duchess of Atholl 3 rail locomotive....I won't admit to how long I have been going to get around to looking at it.

Who say's....it's not running yet.
Although the Atco battery mower is on charge once again...not to start Astra this time...but to run the magnetiser device needed to re magnetise a Hornby Dublo magnet following a dismantle.
1.6C and big flakes of snow coming down now....
