Planting Japanese/over wintering Onions in March

Hello all I purchased some over wintering onion sets in the Autumn, but due to twisting my knee badly couldn't get them planted. So I now have plenty of unplanted onions? Is it better to buy fresh sets for now and plant my existing onions next autumn, or just plant the winter onions in the spring? A...
