Politeness
Not likely cherrycoop, imagine the level of insults I'd get for suggesting that some users there are bad mannered.

Figs
I agree with Jeanne, live in same area as her and you can see when the figs are ready - for a start, they will come away from the branch in your hand, may need a small twist. Look at the base of the fruit, if there's a small whitish star/cross shape forming, it's where they will split and time to pi...

Town or Country?
I'm a Londoner, lived there for the better part of 58 years with one or two small excursions to semi-rural areas for work. Though I did have a garden and an allotment, I had to give up the latter because of pressures of work. Now I live in a rural area of SW France, complete change in lifestyle, rea...

Isn't Organic Way only available on subscription to members of HDRA/Garden Organic? And to be honest, since Garden Organic went so far up market, it's so glossy and aimed at raising money and its own campaigns, it seems to have lost the real old fashioned Lawrence Hills gardening ethos.

Is organic food better?

Spiders and stuff
Much later usually, when I get warm at night. The itching and pain is so bad it has actually kept me awake or woken me up three nights this week.
I'm seeing my generaliste next week so will see whether he can recommend anything but tomorrow will have a chat with the pharmacist.

Spider bites
Hi Cevenol I'm just down the road from you in the Dolrdogne and I'm covered in the bloody things. I've been working on two gardens which have a lot of leaf debris in them and the varmints seem to love laying in wait for any passing leg. Also, there seems to be a load of particularly vicious horsefli...
