i too am having problems with rats, they ate a lot of my spuds and bore holes in my polytunnel,every time i patch a hole they create a new one my veg patch is surrounded with fencing/rabbit proof galvanized netting. brown spots on garlic/onion leaves

my garlic,onions & leeks all are covered in brown raised spots and the leaves are turning yellow, bulbs seem ok, any ideas?

thx for this unfortunately T&M no longer list Soy Beans! I have also tried Holland & Barratt but they dont stock either. Definately want them for growing and hoping my polytunnel will provide the right environment. Will try supermarkets next!

So OK I exagerate slighly, but I did discover approx 100 grasshoppers in my polytunnel yesterday on a bare patch and something has been nibbling my greens from the edges leaving very circular bite marks. Any "green" ideas for removal, I did manage to get about 20 by jumping on them but not...

Hi I,m not being critical, but, have a think about the pros and cons. Do you need 'raised' beds or just fixed position beds/paths - timber/raisedness is not a prerequisite for working on a bed system (or no-dig). Useful in small gardens/ allotments, but if you have a lot of ground it's a lot of exp...

Don't know if this will help, but we are using old scaffolding boards. We buy them - greatly reduced so haggling skills come in handy - from a local scaffold hire firm, as once they are cracked they can't be used due to health and safety regs. I think the last lot we got did three 4ft x 16ft raised...

Hi, about to launch into as near to self-sufficiency as possible with a 2 acre plot. Will be creating numerous raised beds both extrnally and within a Polytunnel. Please can you advise what is the best wood to use with "organic" growing techniques in mind? I am aware on not using creosoted...
