Hi All

Can someone tell me please why i've got more growth on my late spuds than on my earlies please.

They were all planted on the same day, same depth. same conditions ect so unsure of what's happend.

Thanks in advance you brilliant bunch of peeps

Dear Lizzie, it is probaly to do with the variety of potato rather than being an early or a late.
A lot of the modern varieties have a lot shorter haulm than the old ones.
Some of the really older types had haulms up to four foot long.
Lizzie i have noticed that you and a few others use O.H for your partners, and some other people use O.H for Old Herbaceous. I hope people don't think i'm popping up north on the odd occasion.
Although i suppose it would be quite funny really.

Kind regards a smiling Old Herbaceous.

Theres no fool like an old fool.

I'm assuming there's OH (Other Half) and dh (darling husband). I think I have both - depending on the topic. Beyond these - there's Old Herbaceous. He's definitely something else!!

As for spuds - I think (reluctantly) Old H might have a point!

Hello you mad people

The spud in question is Pentland Javelin FE. Does that make any difference?

As for the other "Old H" bit, I'm easy cos i've got an Old Man rather than anything else.
