Dwarf Stella Cherry Tree

Can't identify that mould? Got a great tip for keeping slugs at bay? Suggestions for organic weed control? Post them here...

Help anyone any idea why my new dwarf cherry tree bred for in pots has no leaves whatsoever at the top and healthy looking leaves below the branches??. Followed the instructions John Innes No 3 and Blood bone dressing early spring. Just looks odd. My other trees Apple Plum and Pear all doing well also in pots. :(

Was it out over winter as the cold could have killed the ends of the branches. Scratch away the 'bark' covering on the parts that are leafless. A live twig should be green under the scratch away piece. If it is brown the end of the branch is dead.

If the ends are dead then cut back to the last lot of leaves into healthy wood.
